MUMBAI: To tackle the shortfall of electricty during summer, the state government is likely to buy electricity from the open market. A key functionary of the Democratic Front government said the proposal to buy 500 MW would be passed in the cabinet meeting to be held on Friday. At present, the state has a shortfall of 4,000 MW daily and the demand for power increases in the summer.
