The state government has sought Rs 3,050 crore outlay for the development of rail infrastructure in the state in the ensuing 2013-14 Railway budget. The state had received only Rs 723 crore allocation in last year’s rail budget against its demand of Rs 2,345 crore. Of the total budget allocation sought for the coming year, the government has asked Rs 1,440 crore for construction of nine new lines, Rs 50 crore for gauge conversion (90-km Rupsa- Bangiriposi), Rs 890 crore for doubling and laying of third line in some sections.

By 2017, the civic body intends to finish installing smart signals at 367 of the busiest junctions in the suburbs. At present, 253 such signals exist in south and central Mumbai, which started being installed from 2007 with World Bank funding of Rs 72 crore.
14th Among 100 Countries: Survey Mumbai: India enjoys a high rating when it comes to budget transparency practices. It ranks 14th among the 100 countries that were surveyed. Its open budget index score of 68 out of 100 is much higher than the average score of 43 for all countries covered in the Global Open Budget Survey 2012. The results of the survey were released on Wednesday by The International Budget Partnership (IBP). According to IBP, India’s current score indicates that the government provides significant information on its budget and financial activities during the year, enabling Indian citizens to hold the government accountable for management of public money.
Bill Will Be Reintroduced In Parliament In Budget Session, Says MoS K V Thomas Kochi: The Centre is in broad agreement with the suggestions of the parliamentary panel on food, which has just submitted its report on the much-debated food security bill, said minister of state for food and civil supplies K V Thomas. “The panel has come up with a near unanimous report, barring a dissent from the CPM member. Many of the suggestions made by the panel were already there in the ‘plan B’, being considered by the government to proceed with the bill,” the minister told TOI here.

The State Budget for 2013-14 may cross Rs 60,000 crore, about Rs 8,000 crore more than Rs 52,030.70 crore outlay proposed for 2012-13. Odisha’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for the next fiscal has been pegged at Rs 2.9 lakh crore, which is 11.53 per cent higher than the current year’s figure of Rs 2.6 lakh crore. “The Budgetary allocation for 2013-14 will be 10-15 per cent higher compared to 2012-13. The focus of the Budget will be on agriculture, education, health and infrastructure creation.
Hit by slackening demand amid economic slowdown and high interest rates, the real estate sector has asked for infrastructure status for the housing sector in the Budget for 2013-14, which would help it avail of tax benefits and easier flow of credit. The housing ministry has said at least low-cost housing should get this status. The National Real Estate Development Council (Naredco) said the sector should get infrastructure status and rental housing should be made more attractive to address the shortage of houses.

But not all tourists complain this as many like adventure tourism. The region can be a great destination for adventure tourism. If we can promote the region as an adventure tourism destination before the world, we can surely attract foreign tourists in the region,” said Chiranjeevi at the three day ‘International Tourism Mart’ which concluded here on Sunday.
