Draft Climate Action Strategy
The European Investment Bank (EIB), one of the largest climate financiers in the world by volume, has carried out a review on its approach to supporting climate action. A related broad public consultation was open from January to March 2015 to inform the review on strategic orientations and future priorities. The review process is taking place in parallel to the climate negotiations on a successor agreement to the Kyoto Protocol. The new agreement is to be concluded in late 2015 and the EIB plans to present its strategic orientations right in time for these events. Ecofys supported the EIB during the public stakeholder consultation in reviewing stakeholder views and suggestions. Ecofys also assisted the bank in drafting its first Climate Strategy document, building on existing initiatives but also including next steps to further strengthen and reinforce the bank’s strategy while taking on board valuable external and internal stakeholder views.
