Irrigation policy
an environmental policy has been chalked out for Haryana state irrigation department. The main objective of this policy is to create environmental awareness among the officials of the irrigation department, ensure proper and equitable use of water, keep all the water bodies free from pollution, arrest environmental degradation, improve the efficiency of the water communication system as well as the drainage network and monitoring groundwater exploitation.
A state-level environmental monitoring committee will be set up to ensure the successful implementation of the policy. The committee will also review the environmental aspects of medium and major irrigation projects and flood control works. It will communicate with other government agencies in the area of water quality monitoring and data processing.
