Draft agriculture policy 2007 - Orissa

Orissa is an agrarian State. Almost two third of its total work force depend on agriculture for employment and sustenance. Agriculture and allied sectors contribute 25.97% to the Net State Domestic Product. The prime duty of the State is to ensure food security to all its citizens. Besides, as per latest data, over 47% of its population live below poverty level and majority of them are cultivators with small holdings or agricultural labour.This policy has been framed to achieve the annual growth rate of 4% during XIth Five Year Plan for garnering food security to the people of the State.
