A grid-connected system linking rooftop solar panels across the State could drive down the cost of generating solar power and provide the basis of a sustainable energy system for Kerala, noted social and environmental activist and the former director of the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT) R.V.G. Menon has suggested.
In a paper presented at the ongoing Kerala Environment Congress (KEC 2012) organised by the Centre for Environment and Development (CED) and the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) here, Prof. Menon said the time had come for Kerala to adopt a proactive policy, making it mandatory for new buildings to have rooftop solar photovoltaic panels
