AGARTALA, March 7: H5 strains of avian influenza have been confirmed in the poultry samples collected from State Poultry Farm at Gandhigram, Agartala, Tripura. The samples collected from the infected site were forwarded to the ERDDL, Kolkata and High Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL), Bhopal for testing.

SURI, 27 DEC: The district animal resource development (ARD) department has begun vaccinating country chickens as part of its anti-bird flu measure. The department has engaged self-help groups (SHG) from various blocks to do the job. The ARD department started the vaccination programme after temperature started dipping from the middle of December as H5N1 virus usually spreads at low temperature.
