After a hiatus of more than two weeks over parts of central and east India, Met office today said elusive monsoon rains were now covering the entire country.
AHMEDABAD: Nal Sarovar is witnessing some deadly nocturnal activity these days. Delayed monsoon has dried up the lake exposing flamingos and other winged visitors to poachers.
AHMEDABAD: If you had a drainage block, water logging problems, cave-ins or a storm water drain burst in your area this monsoon, just lodge your complaint to the SMS' complaint redressal Jansuvidha' system and expect a speedy response. The system was first introduced in the new west zone followed by the south zone in recent months and would now be extended to the entire city from Monday next.
Guwahati: Over three lakh people have been hit in Assam after incessant rains in catchment areas caused rivers to flow above the danger level as the flood situation in the state turned grim on Friday.
PRAMOD KUMAR Despite showers, reservoirs at dead level CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION DATA REVEALS LEVEL HAS NOT INCREASED In the southern region, except a few, the water level has not increased in most reservoirs Recent monsoon showers have brought no respite on the water front as the water level in most of the major water reservoirs in the country has not increased
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's monsoon rains for the week ended July 1 were 29 percent below normal, improving from a 68 percent shortfall in the previous seven days, the weather office said on Thursday. The June-September annual rains are the main source of irrigation for Indian farms and are crucial for Asia's third-largest economy.
LUCKNOW: Late arrival and now weak monsoon conditions have hit farmers hard. If the same trend continued for a weak, it is feared that the Kharif crop yield would drop by 20-30% this season. Adding to the woes of farmers is the poor power supply in the rural belt and the recent hike in diesel prices.
MUMBAI: The first few days of monsoon have resulted in the regular yellowish-brown, brackish water from household taps across the city. The BMC's contamination report for the last 15 days of June shows 10% of the total samples tested were found to be unfit for drinking, and another 3% contained the harmful E. coli bacteria.
Shimla: The monsoon has finally arrived but the low offtake of fertilisers, particularly urea because of the prolonged dry spell, continues to be a matter of concern to the state.
