<p>The Civil Nuclear Liability Bill, 2010 that got approved in Lok Sabha on Aug 25, 2010 after government dropped the controversial provision on "intent" as a precondition for holding suppliers liable for a nuclear accident caused by defective equipment.</p>
<p>India is blessed with abundant solar energy. Solar water heater system is a technically proven successful application for use of this energy. However the market for the solar water heater is not yet developed fully.
The objective of this assignment is to develop an Area Based Energy Service Company (ESCO) Model for Solar Water Heating (SWH) and to assess the potential of Carbon Financing in order to achieve scale in SWH development in the country. In the recent years, India has witnessed considerable progress in SWH development. A total of 3.53 million sq. m.

At present, use of SWH is rather limited and scattered in Indian Himalayas. Most of the existing systems are in commercial and institutional buildings (hotels, resorts, hospitals, defense establishments, etc); in general the use of solar water heaters in the domestic sector is very scarce.
