Lessons from previous coal transitions: high-level summary for decision-makers
This report is the first output of a major international research project coordinated by IDDRI and Climates Strategies, entitled “Coal Transitions: Research and Dialogue on the Future of Coal”, bringing together leading research institutes in several major coal producing and consuming countries. The aim of this first report is to highlight key lessons from previous coal transitions in the Netherlands, the UK, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain and the US. It also provides key recommendations to coal producing regions, which are essential to enable a just transition.
