• Conservative political groups in the US have objected to a promotion campaign, which is being run in Germany for the documentary Super Size Me and shows a bloated Statue of Liberty holding a burger in one hand and a portion of French fries in place of a torch. In exchange for giving away Subway sandwich coupons at cinemas, the documentary's German promoters pasted cartoon images of the statue on tray liners.
• The Indian media's coverage of the April-May 2004 general election was obsessed with controversies and ignored issues of national importance, a study by Delhi's Centre for Advocacy and Research has claimed. The study, done between March 8-May 7, found that TV channels carried 5,153 political stories of the 8,516 total stories beamed on the airwaves.
