Tobacco case
Florida's Supreme Court has dealt the US tobacco industry a heavy blow by refusing to overturn an earlier appeals court ruling allowing a class action suit to be brought against the tobacco giants. This ruling could leave tobacco makers open to us $300 billion lawsuit filed by thousands of ailing Florida smokers seeking reimbursement for years of healthcare expenses. Tobacco giant Philip Morris said that the industry would continue to file appeals against the class action lawsuit.
