Litter free park
in an attempt to ensure that visitors did not dirty the famous Jim Corbett National Park, the park authorities have decided to provide handwoven waste baskets for all to use inside the park and return them when leaving. According to estimates, 10,000 tourists, including foreigners, visit the forest every year.
Commenting on this move, park director Mohammad Hasan said, "The park now looks more natural without the plastic bags and other wastes.' Besides, Hasan pointed out, park employees have also been instructed to personally remove litter like plastic bags from the park's precincts. Although the waste baskets can be picked up at the entrance gate, they are also being provided to visitors who stay in the cottages inside the tiger reserve.
