Mind blowing wonder
According to a US surgeon, Robert White, human heads can be surgically transplanted on to healthy bodies of dead donors. White who has experimented with animals, has already achieved success in head transplantation of rhesus monkeys. He says that in future, a person with a healthy head, but broken body can have his head transplanted to a donated healthy body of a dead person. At present, only skins, bones and arteries of the head can be connected with the body but not the nerves with the spinal cord. Such operations would be suitable for paralysed persons and those who have incurable cancer but prefer to live in a wheelchair to death. White hopes to perform the first successful human head transplant in 1999.
