The Sri Lankan government intends to invest about Rs 41 crore (Indian rupees) this year for the improvement of western and indigenous medicine sector. Nimal Siripala de Silva, minister for health and indigenous medicine said that this was an increase of 40 per cent over the previous year's allocation. He said that one hospital in every district will be provided with all infrastructure facilities. These hospitals would then provide training to medical staff, he said. Several countries have agreed to provide aid for these health facilities.
