In the soup
Lawyers in the US recently filed a revised complaint alleging that fast food group McDonald's was making misleading nutritional claims. The original suit was filed last August by the parents of two girls who alleged that McDonald's did not clearly reveal the ingredients and effects of its food, including the levels of fat, salt, sugar and cholesterol.
The original complaint was dismissed in January this year by US district court judge Robert Sweet for failing to show that food sold by the fast food chain was "dangerous in any way other than that which was open and obvious to a reasonable consumer'. But he also gave the lawyers a period of 30 days to modify the complaint and bring to light dangers that were "not commonly well known'.
In the revised complaint, attorney Samuel Hirsch accused McDonald's of "deceptive practices in the advertising, processing and sale of foods'.
