Death of calves, dog prompts PWD to suspend pumping of water CANACONA, MAY 6 The use of chemicals to kill fish in the Mudkud River has posed a serious threat to the lives of over 5,000 people in Agonda and Khola. Two calves and a dog reportedly died after consuming the dead fish from the river banks on Thursday morning, prompting the PWD to suspend pumping of water from the river.

Met to install ARG stations to analyse rainfall trend

PWD removes mud deposited in Bicholim river
The PWD on Thursday began removing the mud, which was deposited in the Bicholim River, where the construction of a bridge is in progress. It may be recalled that PWD, while undertaking the construction work of the parallel bridge on Bicholim River, had deposited heaps of mud near one of the main pillars of the bridge, due to which the entire flow of water from Bicholim River had been blocked.

As the wildlife census is entering last few hours of its edition, the forest department has decided to lay camera traps covering four square kilometers with each camera to track the movement of tigers in that area.

ICAR discovers new variety of Mancurad mango
The Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Old Goa has discovered a new variety of Mancurad mango at Siolim village in Bardez taluka . Having average weight content of 480 grams it is considered to be of superior quality. Also, it has less fibre, said a scientist at ICAR.

Tiger skates spotted in 3 sanctuaries
SWETA KAMAT PANJIM, APRIL 29 Bolstering wildlife enthusiasts' demands to declare Mhadei wildlife sanctuary as a tiger habitat, the volunteers have stumbled upon tiger skates at various places in this sanctuary, which had earlier indicated presence of Royal Bengal tiger. The tiger skate along with the skate of panther has been collected and kept at a camp site in Nagargao village of Valpoi.
