While Department of Agriculture has introduced different types of high yielding varieties of paddy -- Jaya and Jyoti have not lost their popularity and are much preferred by the Goan farmers. The local court at Valpoi is yet to frame charges against the accused charge-sheeted in sensational tiger killing case, a senior forest officer said. Deputy Conservator of Forests (North), G T Kumar confirmed that the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Valpoi is yet to frame charges against all the five accused, who were charge-sheeted last month.
The National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes (NREGS), introduced in Sattari taluka in 2008, has started showing positive results.
