    IF you are expecting supply of dal, rice and edible oil through a friendly neighbourhood ration shop from May 1, as assured by the State Government earlier, you better forget it. The government will not be able to meet the pre-announced date for supply of essential commodities through the public distribution system as the tender worth Rs 600 crore to replenish the stocks has been scrapped following allegations of irregularities and favouritism.

  • Advani to address paddy growers' rally

    State BJP is organising a farmer's rally in Bhandara district of Eastern Vidharbha on May 3 to highlight the problems of paddy growers in the area. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, state BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said that senior BJP leader L K Advani will be addressing this rally in Bhandara's Sakoli area. Advani, along with party General Secretary Gopinath Munde, other parties MP and legislators will address the paddy growers' rally to resolve their various issues.

    An estimated 1,800 hospitals in Maharashtra have not yet applied to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for authorisation to dispose off bio medical waste (BMW). Efforts have been initiated to know about the methods used to dispose off such waste as it can lead to a pollution problem of severe magnitude and endanger lives.

  • Loan waiver issue sees more chaos in House

    The STATE Legislative Assembly on Tuesday witnessed uproarious scenes on the issue of farm loan with the opposition members shouting slogans against the government and demanding more loan waiver for the farmers. The issue of total loan waiver was raised by the Leader of Opposition Ramdas Kadam through an adjournment motion who said that Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had given a statement saying that more waiver for farmers is not possible. Kadam said in that case the state government should take initiative and come out with a scheme to help the debt-ridden farmers.

This amazing girl, a test-tube baby, started her marathon from Delhi's India Gate and has so far travelled across four states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

  • Parents not sending kids to school will be face jail: State

    ASSERTING that every child has the right to education and that the parents failing to send their wards to schools should be sent to jail, School Education Minister Vasant Purke said the state government would enact a legislation on 'right to education' and introduce sex education from standard ninth from the ensuing academic year.
