Three senior Congress leaders have criticised the State government for not admonishing the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike for its failure to remove garbage across the city.
Speaking to presspersons, the former Chairmen of the Legislative Council B.K. Chandrashekar and Veeranna Mathikatti said that even the Karnataka High Court had to intervene thrice and went to the extent of saying it could be superseded. Mr. Chandrashekar said that though the government could dissolve the palike, it could neither supersede nor suspend it. He said Mayor Venkatesha Murthy, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleged that garbage could not be removed because of differences between two powerful Ministers, and that the officials were not cooperating with him to solve the problem.
