<p>This draft of the National Climate Change Policy for Sri Lanka contains a a vision, mission, goal and a set of guiding principles followed by broad policy statements under Vulnerability, Adaptation, Mitigation, Sustainable Consumption and Production and Knowledge Management.</p>
<p>As Sri Lanka moves into a trajectory of aggressive development, evaluating climate change vulnerability becomes important to identify potential threats to slated development goals. By doing so, any risks could be addressed early, ensuring that development targets can be achieved in a timely and sustainable manner.<br /> </p>
<p>This document outlines a comprehensive National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (NCCAS) which lays out a prioritized framework for action and investment for the 2011-2016 period aimed at systematically moving Sri Lanka and its people towards a climate change resilient future.</p>
