World malaria report 2023
<p>India topped countries in the South-East Asia region for the most number of malaria cases and deaths in 2022, according to this report published by the World Health Organization (WHO).</p>

Research from a savannah area in Mali shows that satellites can reveal the environmental factors that trigger the biological cycles of both the Plasmodium falciparum parasite and its host the Anopheles mosquito. Remote sensing data of vegetation accurately predicted climate trends affecting both the parasite and the mosquito and could therefore forecast the severity of a malaria outbreak.

Agartala, April 5: Tripura government has started the extensive use of Artesunate Combination Therapy (ACT), a second generation drug against malaria in Tripura while setting a target to distribute six lakh mosquito-nets before the next monsoon, besides spraying DDT in sensitive locations of the state at least for the next 150 days.
