The overarching objective to be achieved through this policy is to provide for and promote a supportive environment for the vast mass of urban street vendors to carry out their vocation while at the same time ensuring theat their vending activities do not lead to overcrowding and unsanitary conditions in public spaces and streets.
The objective of this Scheme is to convert/ construct low cost sanitation units through sanitary two pit pour flush latrines with superstructures and appropriate variations to suit local conditions (area specific latrines) and construct new latrines where EWS household have no latrines and follow the in-human practice of defecating in the open in urban areas.
This policy intends to promote sustainable development of habitat in the country with a view to ensuring equitable supply of land, shelter and services at affordable prices to all sections of society.
