Despite the growing awareness of the nexus between climate change and migration the subject has not been explored empirically in a way that generates conclusive results.
Bulk percipitation displays the combined effects of all water soluble components of precipitation. Dust from the earth's surface is commonly assumed to be alkaline; it is commonly reported in the literature as a constituent of the atmosphere and of precipitation.
Agriculture in India depends heavily on weather and climate conditions. Weather forecasts are useful for decisions regarding crop choice, crop variety, planting/harvesting dates, and investments in farm inputs such as irrigation, fertilizer, pesticide, herbicide etc.
Performance of four mesoscale models namely, the MM5, ETA, RSM and WRF, run at NCMRWF for short range weather forecasting has been examined during monsoon-2006.
Groundwater recharge and base flow using different investigated methods are simulated in the 15-ha Bukmoongol small-forested watershed located at the southern part of Korea. The WHAT system, PART, RORA, PULSE, BFI, and RAP software are used to estimate groundwater recharge or base flow and base flow index from the measured streamflow.
The study related to assessment of various chemical constituents in the groundwater, their origin and suitability for human use has been carried out in the Chaliyar river basin of Kerala. Groundwater samples were collected from 27 open dug wells and 7 bore wells, and analyzed.
Satellite-enhanced rainfall estimation appears to offer an effective and viable alternative means for estimating precipitation. Satellite-improved rainfall estimates for the HKH region delivered in a timely fashion will facilitate the use of regional flood-information systems.
In this case study, the costs and benefits under potential climate change of different flood risk reduction approaches in northern India were analyzed and compared. In addition, the utility, applicability and limitations of cost-benefit analysis for supporting disaster risk reduction decision-making under a changing climate were investigated.
Surinder Sud / New Delhi September 30, 2008, 0:56 ISTAfter normal rains in most parts except western Madhya Pradesh and some north-eastern hill states, the monsoon began withdrawing from north-west India on Monday.
