Poor precedents
Plans to interlink rivers have gone awry on a number of occasions in other parts of the world. One such project involved attempts by the erstwhile Soviet Union to divert Siberian rivers through a canal network to feed deficient rivers in Kazakhstan and Central Asian republics.
