Power: It can review all the decisions of the Narmada Control Authority
NARMADA CONTROL AUTHORITY
Chairperson: Secretary to the Union ministry of water resources
Members: Secretaries to the ministries of power, environment and forests, and welfare; chief secretaries of the four states concerned; technical people like chief engineers
Power: High power committee responsible for overall coordination and direction of the implementation of the Narmada valley project. It creates and controls various sub-groups for specific operations
SUB-GROUP ON RELIEF AND REHABILITATION
Chairperson: Secretary to the Union ministry of welfare
Members: Government officials and some technical people
Power: Monitor at every stage whether rehabilitation is being carried out or no. Grant clearance after work is completed
SUB-GROUP ON ENVIRONMENT
Chairperson: Secretary to the Union ministry of environment and forests
Members: Government officials and some technical people
Power: Monitor at every stage whether environmental matters have been adequately addressed. Grant clearance after work is completed
GRIEVANCES REDRESSAL AUTHORITIES
(Three different authorities; one each for Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra)
Chairperson: A retired judge of Supreme Court or a high court
Members: It functions through the state government machinery
Power: Address complains of dam oustees. Ensure that the resettlement package is fair. Investigate the complaints
