Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Shamsher Singh Vs Govt of NCT of Delhi dated 28/02/2025.
Counsel appearing for the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) submitted that an affidavit of competent officer will be filed within four weeks disclosing the timeline for providing sewage coverage to all the JJ clusters and trapping the sewer lines and diverting them to the proper STPs. He submits that all the relevant particulars in the said affidavit will be disclosed.
Counsel for the DJB also pointed out that from some of the trapped drains, the sewage and septage is lifted through the tankers and taken to the STP. The above affidavit will also disclose the details of quantity of sewage/sullage and septage generated from the JJ clusters, the manner of their treatment and STPs in which they are/will be treated, and the capacity and performance of these STPs having adequate co-treatment facilities. The date for the next hearing of the case is on May 2, 2025.
An application was filed complaining against dumping of sewage carried by unauthorized trucks/vehicles on roads and drains resulting in pollution and damage to the environment. The Tribunal in one of its previous order had also taken note of the serious issue relating to septage management in the localities without a sewer system.
