Electricity (Third Amendment) Rules, 2024
The Ministry of Power (MoP) has introduced the Electricity (Third Amendment) Rules, 2024, aimed at enhancing regulations pertaining to renewable energy sources in the country. These rules were published on March 12, 2024. These Amendment Rules have empowered the Central Government to establish distinct central pools for various categories of Renewable Energy Sources. These pools will operate for a duration of three years from the date specified in the order issued by the Central Government. This amendment seeks to foster the development and utilization of renewable energy sources across different categories. By establishing distinct central pools, the government aims to streamline the management and distribution of renewable energy resources, thereby facilitating their integration into the national energy grid. The Electricity (Third Amendment) Rules, 2024, aim to promote sustainability and reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources in line with national and international environmental objectives.
