Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding protection of wetlands of Pampore, Jammu & Kashmir, 06/03/2024
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Nadeem Ahmad Dar Vs Union Territory of J&K dated 06/03/2024.
The application by Nadeem Ahmad Dar, Member of Eco-Development Committee, Lalpora Pampore said that the wetlands of Pampore are facing danger due to the poor quality of works relating to protection of wetland and solid waste management. It was said that the concerned authorities were not taking appropriate action for protection of the wetland and the matter required an appropriate inquiry into the matter and direction to concerned authorities to take appropriate steps for protection of wetland so that environmental damage stops.
The NGT called for a factual report from a joint committee J&KPCC, District Magistrate, Pulwama and State Wetland Authority. The committee would visit the site, collect relevant information and submit factual report within two months
