Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Bibhu Dash & Others Vs Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation & Others dated 05/02/2024.
The affidavit of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board stated that the STP cannot be constructed because the sewage outflow of Manorama Estates Welfare Society to their system cannot be connected since Manorama Estates is situated in a low-lying area and due to gravity the sewage flow cannot be connected to the STP.
The affidavit also mentioned that Manorama Estates has already been informed by the State Pollution Control Board vide letter dated September 9, 2023 that a pumping station is required to be constructed in the premises of the Manorama Estates and sewage can be pumped to nearby sewerage system at Durga Mandap, Bomikhal, Bhubaneswar.
Manorama Estates Welfare Society and Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) was directed by the NGT to file their counter-affidavits within three weeks.
