Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding sewer line joining storm water drain in Delhi, 20/09/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sunil Kumar Aledia Vs Govt. of NCT of Delhi dated 20/09/2023.
The matter relates to discharge of sewage in the storm water drain passing through Malviya Nagar to Greater Kailash by joining sewer line to storm water drain by Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
The tribunal through a previous order had formed a joint committee with the direction to visit the site, collect relevant information and take appropriate remedial action, if violation of environmental norms was found. The action taken report was filed by the District Magistrate (South).
The report only refers to certain directions which have been issued but it does not very clearly disclose the finding of the joint committee in respect of violation of the environmental norms and the allegation of joining the sewer line to storm water drain. The report also does not reflect any remedial suggestion, the tribunal noted and directed the personal appearance of the District Magistrate (South) and the Executive Engineer, DJB on the next date of hearing, December 12, 2023.
