Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal dumping of waste collected by Dharuhera Municipality at main gate of Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadium, Rewari, Haryana, 02/08/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Prakash Yadav Vs State of Haryana dated 02/08/2023.
The grievance in the present application is regarding illegal dumping of dry and wet household garbage lifted through door-to-door collection by Dharuhera Municipality at main gate of Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadium located in Industrial Area Dharuhera and also leaving stray cattle caught from other areas there. Due to emission of foul smell and also pollution caused the sports persons and residents of the locality are suffering from breathing problems. Due to foul smell and pollution the sports persons are forced to leave the stadium.
The NGT directed a joint committee comprising of Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) and District Magistrate (DM), Rewari to undertake visits to the site and look into the grievances of the applicant. The committee will meet the representative of the project proponent verify the factual position and take appropriate remedial action by following due course of law. The Committee shall also report regarding compliance of MSW Rules, 2016, waste generation, processing and management of legacy waste, if any, in quantifiable terms.
The state PCB would be the nodal agency for coordination and compliance. Factual and action taken reports on both the aspects of (i) removing dump from the stadium gate and (ii) status of solid waste management at Dharuhera must be submitted within one month, the order said.
