Report filed by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board in compliance to the National Green Tribunal order, in Original Application No. 253/2021 (Jhammanlal Gautam Vs Union of India & Others).

The matter related to brick kilns operating without requisite EC/consent or in violation of consent conditions (including the use of fuel) for siting criteria or carrying capacity.

A Joint Committee constituted by the NGT order, November 26, 2021 has inspected total 9 brick kiln sites during 3rd and 4th March, 2022 in villages Gangiri and Kodiaganj. As per the committee report all these 9 brick kilns were found operational and were not equipped with proper facilities for stack monitoring as per the CPCB guidelines and violated environmental norms. As per report submitted by the Regional Officer, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Aligarh, total 555 brick kilns have been identified during survey and action has been initiated against the defaulting brick kilns.
