Status report by the CPCB on industrial OCEMS data display in public domain by SPCBs of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, 21/04/2022

Status report by the Central Pollution Control Board in compliance of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order, February 1, 2022 in OA No. 72/2021 (Ramesh Agarwal Vs MoEF&CC & Others).

The matter related to industrial Online Continuous Effluent/Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) Data Display by states of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The NGT vide its order, February 1, 2022 directed the CPCB to properly monitor the OCEMS and to furnish the compiled report of latest status with regard to all three states - (Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh to be filed. The status of industrial OCEMS data display in public domain by the SPCBs of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The SPCBs of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh provided the committee weblinks regarding display of industrial OCEMS data on their respective websites. In the case of websites of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, it was observed that there is a scope for improvement in the OCEMS data being displayed by the SPCBs.

The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board vide letter, March 11, 2022 informed the CPCB that earlier only real time data was available on the website. Now, while making the website more user friendly, the RSPCB has been displaying unit wise real time and historic data on its website. The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board vide its letter, February 25, 2022 informed the CPCB that data of 167 industrial units is being displayed on its website.
