Report on Bum-Rukn-Ud-Dowla lake, Shivrampally village, Hyderabad, Telangana, 22/03/2021
Report on behalf of Telangana State Pollution Control Board in the matter of Lubna Sarwath Vs Government of Telangana dated 22/03/2021. The NGT had taken Suo Motu of the mails sent by Dr. Lubna Sarwath, an NGO organisation on Bum-Rukn-Ud-Dowla lake pollution.
The Telangana State Pollution Control Board inspected the lake on March 8, 2021 and observed that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities have removed the municipal solid waste, which were earlier dumped along the Bum-Rukn-Ud-Dowla lake in Shivrampally village, Hyderabad, Telangana. Some of the sewage streams which were earlier joining the lake were stopped. However, two sewage streams are still joining the lake.
The analysis of the lake samples collected in the year 2018 indicated the lake water quality was below ‘E’ class. However, the present analysis of the sample of the lake water collected by the SPCB official on March 18, 2021 indicated that the lake water quality improved to ‘E’ class from below ‘E’ class. The Board would be regularly monitoring the quality of the lake.
