Written submission by Young Builders (P) Ltd. before the National Green Tribunal dated 18/01/2021. University of Delhi had filed an appeal before the NGT against the  grant of  Environment Clearance (EC) by the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) to Young Builders for the  construction of a multistorey residential complex at Delhi. The residential group housing project adjoins the Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station on the land leased by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The report stated that the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and SEIAA had granted Environmental Clearances to at least 13 other large-scale building and construction projects in Delhi, which are currently under construction, of which 6 projects are in the vicinity of the Delhi University's North Campus.

The Project Proponent cited the Joint Committee report (Rapid  Indicative Environment Assessment Report) of December 10, 2020 which said that the project was viable as environmental impacts including impact on traffic congestion and urban infrastructure/services, were minimal/nominal. There would be no extraction of groundwater for purposes of usage, but during the dewatering process, the excess water would be abstracted and used strictly on a need basis  subject to approval from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Central Groundwater Authority (CGWA). The project has got approval from the National Monument Authority and the Archaeological Survey of India, the report said.
