Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding grant of EC for sand mining in river Yamuna, village Bendakhand, Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, 09/12/2020
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ravi Kumar Vs Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change & Others dated 09/12/2020 regarding grant of Environmental Clearance (EC) in respect of sand/morrum/mining project for Yamuna river at Khand No. 1, 2,3 and 4, village Bendakhand, tehsil and district Banda, Uttar Pradesh. According to the appellant, four individual leases form a cluster and need to be evaluated as such instead of being evaluated separately in violation of Sustainable Sand Mining Guidelines and judgment of the Supreme Court.
The NGT directed a report to be furnished by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change and the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Uttar Pradesh within one month on the matter.
