Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ranjan Vs Central Ground Water Authority & Others dated 18/11/2020.
Grievance in this application is against illegal extraction of ground water by M/s New Waqt Club at Mangol Puri, Ram Leela Maidan, Kalamandir, Delhi for commercial purposes in violation of law. The authorities have failed to take any action.
The NGT in its previous order had sought a report from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Deputy Commissioner, North-West District, Kanjhawala after verifying whether illegal borewells were operating in the area. While no report has been received from the Deputy Commissioner, North-West District, Kanjhawala, a report has been received from the DJB April 13, 2020 to the effect that SDM, Kanjhawala has been asked to carry out inspection but due to Covid-19, the same could not be done.
The NGT, November 18 directed the SDM, Kanjhawala to positively furnish a factual report in the matter before February 3, 2021.
