Workers In The Time Of COVID 19: Evidence from a Rapid Assessment in Bihar
This rapid assessment report, a result of a pilot survey, presents a snapshot of the extent of distress in a few districts of Bihar, and is the first in a series of reports which would similarly attempt to look at the conditions, challenges, and coping strategies of workers in different states across India. The study and this report seeks to rapidly discover and briefly document the lived experiences of informal workers, especially migrant workers, who are struggling to cope with the loss of wages and livelihoods; disruption in access to food, water, healthcare, and social security as well as their plight in returning to their home since the announcement of lockdown.
