Report by the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram on storm water drains, 01/11/2019
Report filed by the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG) to the National Green Tribunal dated 01/11/2019 regarding storm water drains.
The NGT in its order of July 23, 2018 and November 20, 2018 had directed the Principal Secretary, Town & Country Planning Department of Haryana in consultation with Haryana State Pollution Control Board and the municipal corporation, Gurgaon to take steps to ensure that storms water drains are not covered and are desilted and kept clean. Haryana was also asked to prepare an appropriate action plan for recovering fine from those who are found responsible for polluting the storm water drains.
The report mentions that all the Badshahpur drains and drains along master roads and sector dividing roads are under the jurisdiction of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and steps to ensure that storm water drains are kept open has to be taken up by Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). Desilting and repair of arterial drains falling within jurisdiction of MCG has been made. Further, action plan to prevent sewage from entering into master storm water drains (Badshahpur drains) has already been submitted to NGT in the form of an affidavit in the matter of Manoj Mishra (O No 06 of 2012) and the latest status regarding the same has been submitted to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority.
