Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal construction in a belt, Mayapuri, Delhi, 13/12/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jitender Dhir Vs Union of India & Others dated 13/12/2019 regarding illegal construction by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the area recorded as green belt in Mayapuri, Delhi despite objection of the Deputy Conservator of Forest. Report filed by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest ((HoFF), Delhi stated that the site was inspected by the Forest Department and bounded by boundary wall. Underground reservoirs had been constructed to replace the borewells. Protected forest area was 5 acres which was not demarcated. Labour camps were removed from the place. in view of the above, the application was disposed of.
But a Review Application was filed with the grievance that order disposing of the application should be reviewed so that demarcation is ensured with a view to protect the forest land. The Tribunal after going through the application, directs a joint Committee of Deputy Conservator of Forest (West), SDM (West) and a nominee of DDA demarcate the forest area and furnish a report.
