Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Residents Welfare Association Vs State of Haryana dated 29/07/2019.
The NGT on July 29, 2019 heard the application filed by Residents Welfare Association of sector 18, Panipat, Haryana against unauthorized polluting factories without ‘Consent to Establish’ under the provisions of the Water Act 1974 and the Air Act 1981 in residential area.
The industries which are in 'red category' are discharging toxic effluents into the irrigation canal and also polluting the river Yamuna.
A joint Committee comprising Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) and the District Magistrate, Panipat have been directed by NGT to look into the matter and submit a report within a month.
