Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding diversion of forest land for construction of East West Rail Corridor, Chhattisgarh, 20/09/2018

  • 20/09/2018

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sudiep Shrivastava Vs. Union of India & Others dated 20/09/2018. This appeal is against the order passed by the State Government allowing diversion of forest land in favour of Chhattisgarh East West Rail Corridor Ltd., for construction of East West Rail Corridor from Marwahi Forest Division (77.178 ha.) and Katghora Forest Division (382.344 ha.) under Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 in Bilaspur and Korba District in the State of Chhattisgarh, subject to conditions.

NGT noted that the appellant's earlier application against the Stage-II clearance was disposed of by the Court and that as the matter has been dealt with by a different Bench, the matter will be placed before the same Bench on 10/10/2018. Counsel for the appellant states that the orders "proceed on an erroneous footing and a review application has been filed."
