Natural hazards 2017
This is the first joint publication from the Natural Hazards Research Platform and Resilience to Nature’s Challenges in New Zealand. The document provides an update on programmes that are exploring New Zealand's resilience to natural hazards, enhancing the understanding of geological and weather processes, and improving the functions of the country's lifelines and built environment. It gives an overview of natural hazards issues in New Zealand, including research on disaster resilience in the town of Franz Josef, research that is enhancing preparedness, coordination and recovery in the event of an Alpine Fault earthquake, and preparedness for tsunami, volcanic and extreme weather events.
