Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M/s Tanner India Vs Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board & Others dated 05/09/2018 regarding closure order under Section 33(A) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Inspection was carried out on 24.05.2018 by the ITT, BHU and it was found that in the sample of effluent, chromium quantity was 10.28 mg per/liter, in excess of the laid down standards. The Applicant Industry also does not have the permission for drawing ground water as required in the condition for consent by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board. The Court notes that permission for withdrawal of water in critical areas is not granted and the Applicant industry is a highly polluting ‘red category’ industry.
