Inventory of green house gas emissions for Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has become the first state in the country to come up with this inventory of greenhouse emissions (CGH). The energy sectors account for the highest amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the State with emissions touching 82.79 million tons of CO2 equivalent (eq) in 2013-14. Of this, 37.026 million tons of CO2 eq were emitted from electricity generation.
The recent report published by the state government of as part Vision 2029 shows net green house emissions from state in 2013-14 were 104.76 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent, of which CO2 emissions were 82.85 million tonnes, methane (CH4) emissions 0.78 million tonnes and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions 0.017 million tonnes. GHG emissions from energy, agriculture, industrial process and product use (IPPU) and waste sectors constituted 69.88%, 15.17%, 12.34% and 2.62% of total CO2 eq emissions respectively.
