Question raised in Lok Sabha on National Wetland Conservation Programme, 29/11/2016
Question raised in Lok Sabha on National Wetland Conservation Programme, 29/11/2016. The National Wetland Conservation Programme (NWCP) has been merged in February, 2013 with another scheme of National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) to avoid overlap and promote better synergy into a new integrated scheme of National Programme for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-system (NPCA). NPCA aims at holistic conservation and restoration of wetlands and lakes for achieving the desired water quality enhancement, besides improvement in biodiversity and ecosystems through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach and a common regulatory framework. The State-wise list of identified wetlands under NPCA/NWCP is at Annexure-I. Details of funds released to the State Governments/Union Territories for conservation of wetlands during last three years and current financial year under the NPCA programme are given in Annexure-II.
