Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding water pollution in Meghalaya, 05/09/2016
Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Environment Pollution & Health Hazards in the State Vs State of Meghalaya & Others dated 05/09/2016 regarding conditions prevalent in respect of at least 21 rivers and water bodies in the State of Meghalaya.
National Green Tribunal directs the Meghalaya State PCB to take samples of water from rivers - Umkharah, UmShyrpi, Lukha and Myntang and get its quality analysed and the results thereof be filed within six weeks. In addition to the above, sample of Umiam Lake/Barapani Lake be similarly tested and its result be also filed before the Tribunal on or before the next date.
