Climate and disaster resilience of greater Dhaka area: a micro level analysis
Using the Climate Disaster Resilience Index (CDRI), this study measures climate disaster resilience of Dhaka City in its seven drainage zones - at ward and thana level. The analysis provides a wealth of information that can be used to identify priority sectors in Dhaka for improving disaster resilience. It identifies weaknesses and potentials of different zones and provides information on relevant variables to facilitate preparation of hazard and vulnerability maps. Since the analysis covers most of the important physical, social, economic, institutional and environmental aspects relevant for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate change Adaptation (CCA), it would be easier to integrate the Disaster Management Plan of the city with its Urban Development Plan.
