no food adulteration: The Union ministry of health and family welfare has issued draft rules amending the existing Prevention of Food Adulteration rules (1955). The draft, made public on August 14, is open for comments and objection for 60 days. The rules lay down that each package of chewing tobacco would have a warning about its adverse effects. The limit for caffeine in carbonated water has been reduced from 200 parts per million (ppm) to 145 ppm. The Central Committee for Food Standards were consulted before making the changes.
